Eligibility Pre-Screen

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants should first apply to an eligible WashU doctoral or master’s program before applying to the McDonnell International Scholars Academy. Keep in mind you must apply separately to both the McDonnell International Scholars Academy and the WashU doctoral or master’s program of your choice.
  • Applicants must have earned or plan to earn a bachelor’s degree or higher before the end of the current academic year, to be eligible to apply to the McDonnell International Scholars Academy.
  • The McDonnell Scholars Fellowship is open to international graduate candidates from our partner university network, international universities outside our partner network, and domestic (U.S.) citizens. Priority is given to international graduate candidates who are graduates of one of the Academy’s partner universities.
  • Application Requirements

  • Applications are submitted online. It is highly recommended that you apply using a current version of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
  • All information must be provided in English.
  • Required materials: candidate’s biographic information, academic history, personal essay, short video, and recommendation letter.
  • Application materials must be received by the application deadline — January 31 at 11:59 pm CST.
